Presentation Reflection

Date: Thursday 29th May
Venue: T001
Time: 20:30
Subject: Drugs

I’m going to talk about Mohammed Abdul Aziz's presentation; I will say the positive and the negative things in this reflection, because his presentation was about drugs which are a worldwide issue. First, the positive idea; he told us what the drugs are and what they do to your body and then he started to talk about specific drugs which are opium and weed. After that, he talked about how the drugs are made and how they can make new kinds of drug when they put illegal chemical products such as heroin. He explain about the poor countries and how they use the drugs as a financial source and how we can solve this problem. The negative side was: he did not use alot of pictures. In conclusion, I liked his presentation because it was a good subject and I think he used a fine strategy to present it and attract us, when he played that funny video in his presentation. His English was good and his speaking too.

Present: Abdulla Al Alawi (Chair), Mubarak (Participant), Abdulla Amer (Secretary)

Abdullah Al Alawai started the meeting by introducing himself, Mubarak and Abdulla Amer. After introducing and greeting Abdulla Ali started to talk about our agenda. We first discussed about causes of the problem. The secretary Abdullah Amer started to Write notes. The participant Mubarak shared some suggestions; he did research on the agenda’s items and he came up with ideas. Abdullah Ali suggested to make underground parking, as it will solve the solution for the problem of traffic in ADMC.

We co-operated on typing up the notes taken by Abdulla Amer so we can upload it to our blogs.

Working in a group is the best thing to solve any type of problems. It is a good and fun exercise for both team mates and teacher. We were trying to find a solution that we all agree on, even if it has some disadvantages. After all working as a group will make more ideas.

Minutes of the first meeting

Date of meeting: Mar / 22 / 2012
Time of meeting: 8:55
Venue: T001
Chair: Abdullah Al Alawi
Participant: Mubarak Ali
Secretary:  Abdullah Amer

Agenda:
1-Make underground parking which will permanently solve the parking problem
2-Make bigger parking space
3-Fix the cracks in the ground
4-Build parking umbrella as the heat in the UAE exceed 50’c
5-Make a ticket system for those who violate the parking rules
6-Make a small special parking area with fees
7-Build light system to tell you if there is any available parking

Chairman Abdullah called the meeting to order at 8:55.
We discussed the traffic and parking issues at the college. The purpose of the meeting was to examine possible solutions to the problems, with particular reference to which were the most viable. To begin with we briefly discussed the causes of the problem .Mubarak said the 2 main general reasons were the increase in the students in the college. The fact that ADMC is full of students, means that it should handle too many cars. This means that it should contain a large space for cars to park.

(A)           Abdullah Al Alawai took us on to the first item on the agenda, making an Underground parking. Mubarak if they increase the space by making parking under the ground it would ease the problem, but this project will take a while which is going to make small problems. Abdullah Amer pointed out that it’s very difficult to work in a confined space and in such hot + humid conditions; also it is hard to work while the parking is being used. So it is better to do this project and finish it during the vacation.

(B)            Abdullah then turned to making a bigger space. Mubarak thought that there is no more space available. Abdullha Amer + Abdullah Al Alawi thought using the small places might be good enough. Mubarak thought it a good idea. So they all agreed on this point

(C)           Fixing the cracks in the ground. Mubarak said there were too many cracks in the ground, which need to be fixed , to make the car park better and smoother.

(D)           Make a ticket system for those who violate the parking rules. Both Mubarak and Abdullah Amer were strongly opposed to this. Abdullah thought that if everyone obeys the rules there will be more space as they take 2 or 3 parking space for one car. Abdullah Al Alawi said that they sometimes park behind your car in the middle of the way which means they will make you wait until they come back.

(E)            Build covered parkings as the heat in the UAE exceeds 50c. Abdulla thought it a good idea. Because you won’t have to worry about the situation when you go back to your car.

(F)      Making special parkings with fees . Abdullah Amer was strongly in favour of special parking; he thought it will make it easier to park if you are late for the class.

(G)           Build light system that tells you where the empty parking is. And how many the are to save a lot more time and not to go between the traffic because you know if there is parking there already. However, if the light showed that there is no more empty parking you can figure out a solution without wasting time.

Abdullah Al Alawi summarized by saying there’d been most agreement in the first solution making underground parking. He said we couldn’t agree on making bigger spaces. As for the other solutions, they were handy but not that much.

Mubarak closed the meeting at 9:25.
